History

The CVU Redhawks football program began as a club sport in 2003 with Jay Michaud at the helm. In 2004 the club was promoted to a varsity sport. Coach Michaud was one of the driving forces behind football in the CSSU School District at the High School and Middle School levels. Michaud spent countless hours recruiting players and coaches at all levels. CSSU Buccaneers Youth Football was started in 2004 for 5th-8th graders by Coach Michaud as a feeder program to the CVU program. In his four years at CVU, Coach Michaud saw the varsity program grow into a competitive, solid football squad.

From 2004 through the 2008 season the Redhawks participated in Division III, making it to the playoffs in 2005 and 2007. In 2009 the Redhawks moved up to Division II competition and made the playoffs the very first year.
